My experience with C. diff started after what I thought would be a routine recovery from breast implant replacement surgery. I was prescribed antibiotics after the procedure, and about 10 days later, I began experiencing intense chills and persistent diarrhea. I went to the hospital and was diagnosed with C. diff.

But that was only the beginning.

After two weeks of treatment, I woke up one morning and could barely walk. The pain and stiffness were overwhelming. I went from doctor to doctor searching for answers, but no one could clearly explain what was happening. Eventually, I was diagnosed with reactive arthritis triggered by the infection.

At that point, I honestly didn’t know which was worse, the C. diff or the arthritis. Both took a serious toll on my body and my life. Recovery was long and exhausting. It took nearly a full year before I finally started to feel like myself again.

During that time, I lost over 20 pounds and experienced significant hair loss. Even now, I don’t feel like my gut has fully returned to normal.

This experience changed me. It showed me how something that starts as a routine medical treatment can turn into a long, difficult health journey. If you’re going through something similar, you’re not alone and healing, although slow, is possible.
