The Lillis Legacy Society

Leave a lasting gift for those who come after

When you include Peggy Lillis Foundation in your estate plans, you join a community of people who believe C. diff should be rare, treatable, and survivable for every generation.

Why planned giving matters for PLF

PLF is a small, high-impact organization. Every dollar we raise goes directly toward educating the public, supporting patients and families, and shaping the policies that determine how C. diff is prevented and treated. Planned gifts (gifts made through a will, trust, or beneficiary designation) give us the kind of stable, long-term funding that lets us plan boldly and act decisively.

A bequest costs you nothing today. It does not change your financial security or your ability to care for the people you love. But it can make a profound difference for patients with C. diff infection for years to come.

the simplest way

A bequest in your will

The most common form of planned giving is a bequest, a gift left through your will or living trust. You can designate a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your estate, or the remainder of your estate after other bequests are satisfied. Your attorney can add this language in a matter of minutes.

We recommend consulting your attorney or a qualified estate planning professional before finalizing any bequest language. Our language is offered as a starting point, not legal advice.

Suggested Language

“I give, devise, and bequeath to Peggy Lillis Foundation for C. diff Education & Advocacy, a nonprofit corporation organized and existing under the laws of the State of New York, with EIN 81-4663562, located at 415 Avenue C, #4D, Brooklyn, NY 11218, [the sum of $______ / ______% of my estate / the residue of my estate] to be used for its general charitable purposes.”

Other ways to make a legacy gift

A bequest is the most straightforward option, but there are several other ways to make a lasting gift to PLF. Your financial advisor or estate planner can help you identify the approach that best fits your situation.

Beneficiary Designation

Name PLF as a full or partial beneficiary on an IRA, 401(k), or life insurance policy. No attorney is required. Simply contact your plan administrator and update your beneficiary form.

Gifts of Stock

Donating appreciated securities directly to PLF may reduce your capital gains tax while supporting the mission. Contact PLF for wire transfer instructions.

Donor-Advised Fund

If you give through a donor-advised fund, you can recommend a grant to PLF now or name PLF as a beneficiary of the fund as part of your estate plans.

Charitable Remainder Trust

A charitable remainder trust allows you to receive income during your lifetime, with the remainder passing to PLF at the end of the trust term. This option requires legal counsel and is best suited to larger gifts.

Tell us about your gift

If you have included PLF in your estate plans, or are thinking about doing so, we would be honored to know. There is no obligation, and your gift will remain entirely private if you prefer. Letting us know simply gives us the opportunity to thank you, welcome you into the Lillis Legacy Society, and ensure your intentions are honored.
