Our 2020 virtual Gala, “C. diff Is A Drag”, was a smashing success! In the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, we couldn’t gather in person as we normally would have. Still, with our amazing emcee, drag superstar Cacophony Daniels and great honorees, more than 1,000 people got to enjoy a great evening. And, while the Gala was free to watch, thanks to our corporate sponsors and lots of generous people we raised more than $63,000 to fund our fight against C. diff.
We took advantage of the virtual setting to recognize the incredible work of two honorees from outside the US. Our Leadership Awarded recipient was Professor Mark Wilcox from England. Our Innovator Award went to the Teresa Zuckberg and Angus, representing the Vancouver Coastal Health System’s K9 C. diff Detection Unit. We were thrilled to celebrate their contributions to fighting C. diff with our largely American audience.
The virtual setting also let us share the stories of Advocates from all across the country: Carol from Iowa, Maryann and Kee Kee from New Jersey, and Pam from Oregon, as well as Dr. Teena Chopra from our Scientific Advisory Council.
We are grateful to Dr. Erik Dubberke, also from our SAC, for his warm introduction of Professor Wilcox, and our new Board President Jeff Pollack who shared PLF’s successes for the year with our audience.
Our thanks to our amazing event planners from Argus International and our video producer Richard Davis.
Of course, we are extremely grateful to our generous corporate sponsors who allowed us to bring C. diff Awareness and fun to all our viewers, including our presenting sponsor Ferring Pharmaceuticals, Rebiotix, Pfizer, Artugen Therapeutics, Azurity Pharmaceuticals, Summit Therapeutics, ThermoFischer Scientific, Doctors’ Biome, Lemed Specialty Pharmacy, and Van West Media.
