Dexter Family to receive first-ever Advocates Award at FIGHT C. DIFF 2014!

We are really excited to announce that we will be presenting our inaugural Advocate Award to the Dexter Family at our 5th Annual FIGHT C. DIFF Gala on Friday, October 24, 2014.

Joining our Innovator Award recipients, Dr. Bruce Hirsch and Dr. Gerard Honig, we will be honoring the husband and children of the late Judy Dexter, who perished from a Clostridium difficile (C. diff) infection in May 2013. In the immediate aftermath of Judy’s death, her family asked that donations be made the Peggy Lillis Foundation.

Determined to prevent other families from suffering such a devastating loss, Charles Dexter and his children, Rich, Scott, Mike and Kirsten, decided to start an annual picnic and cornhole tournament in Savage, Maryland.

The first Judy Dexter Memorial Picnic and Cornhole Tournament, held this past June 7, was a spectacular success. It raised over $8,000 and drew about 80 people for a day of fun, family and C. diff awareness. Combined with gifts made in memory of Judy, the Dexters have raised more than $10,000 to fight C. diff!

For us, the Dexters embody our mission of C. diff education and advocacy as well as the deep commitment to family and community that Judy and Peggy shared. You can read more about the Judy Dexter picnic here as well as Judy’s story on our website.

We hope you will join us in honoring the Dexter family’s incredible advocacy by becoming a sponsor of this year’s Gala.

Sponsorships begin at $250 and include multiple tickets to the event and other benefits.

We look forward to seeing you there!
